What brings you peace?
Although I’ve been running from the idea of writing, it’s one of the few things that truly brings me peace…And peace is something we can use a LOT more of, writing just happens to be my little corner of that.
To me, writing is like talking to an old friend. Someone who understand every crack and crevice of your personality. To be completely honest with y’all, sometimes writing is the only way I can get out everything going through my head. If you’re reading this, I dare you to set a quick 5-minute timer and write out how you’re feeling in this very moment. You know, it’s not healthy to hold in your emotions? (physically and mentally)
If you happen to complete my dare, I have a few follow up questions for you to ask yourself…Why do you feel that way? Are you giving yourself enough room to fully feel and understand your emotions? Or do you shove them all in a metaphorical bottle that no one but you will ever have access too? A bottle made up of glass that’s full of every negative thought or feeling you’ve had about, well, anything and everything…A bottle that you stuff full of those emotions until the lid finally pops off and you scream out, aching to catch your breath. I get it, I tend to do the same thing without realizing it, until it’s too late.
If you can relate to my bottle metaphor, maybe you should give writing a chance? Nothing too serious, maybe just a few short sentences at the end of each night summarizing how you felt that day. It could help you start to slowly open up to the people in your life, if that’s something you happen to struggle with.
If writing isn’t your cup of peace tea, then I hope maybe you’ll share your remedies with me! Tell me about music that soothes your soul, a T.V show that makes you smile on the days all you did was cry, I promise I’m all ears!
I hope to see y’all soon!
P.s. I hope y’all liked the extra blog this week!
