Midnight
What would you do if midnight never came? Would you feel abandoned by the time? How long would it take you to realize that Midnight was gone?
If midnight never came, I wouldn’t get an extra glimpse of the twinkle in your eyes, that could light up brighter than any star in the midnight sky.
If midnight never came, would you take my hand and slip away with me? Kind of like Peter Pan?
If midnight never came, would you still be the caged bird that never learned to sing?
If midnight never came would I know where you secretly place your soap box, when you’re embarrassed to speak?
Would midnight stretch back to life before you noticed she was truly gone?
What if midnight was a person, and this was their song. Do you suppose the chords would be sweet or desperately strong?
If only I knew none of the pain that came when midnight called and left the rain.
